Question:

102 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if agreement has been reached with a person (details supplied) from Fruit of the Loom regarding the repayment of IDA grants; if so, the amount of grant being returned; and when this will occur. [4178/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 61 and 102 together.

In December 1998, following detailed negotiations, IDA Ireland and Fruit of the Loom reached agreement as follows: Fruit of the Loom will maintain a minimum of 1,300 jobs through 1999 and 600 jobs through until the end of 2005, and Fruit of the Loom will repay to IDA Ireland £7 million by way of £5 million in the first quarter of 1999 and £2 million from the sale of the factories at Milford, Malin and Raphoe.
