92 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will abolish the ruling that commonage land must have been included on an area aid application in 1997 for it to qualify for inclusion in a REP scheme application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4698/99]

Where evidence is available that an application for area aid was made in either 1997 or 1998 it will be acceptable to my Department in the processing of REPS applications.
