Vol. 500 No. 7

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Willie Penrose

Question:

357 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the steps, if any, taken to have a dealing expedited at the Land Registry for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4800/99]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application for first registration which was lodged on 21 December 1998. I am informed that queries issued in this matter recently and replies were received on 29 January 1999 and 5 February 1999. I understand that due to their complicated nature, these dealings can take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time. However, I can confirm to the Deputy that the matter is being expedited by the Land Registry.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

358 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position in relation to a Land Registry application for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4811/99]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the dealing number quoted by the Deputy refers to an application under section 49, that is acquisition of title by virtue of long possession of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 22 May 1998.

I should point out that all the particulars quoted by the Deputy are relevant to the dealing number quoted except that the applicant's name is different.

I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process. Accordingly it is not possible to estimate a completion date for the application concerned at this stage.

However, I can assure the Deputy that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application for first registration which was lodged on 17 July 1997. I understand that due to their complicated nature, these dealings can take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time. However, I can confirm to the Deputy that the matter is being expedited by the Land Registry.

John Perry

Question:

360 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a person (details supplied) will have his registration application immediately processed in view of the serious circumstances involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4983/99]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, that is acquisition of title by virtue of long possession of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 3 November 1998. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process.

I am further informed that notice has been served on 25 January 1999 on all parties whose interests may be affected by the application in so far as such parties can be identified and that the Land Registry are currently engaged in correspondence with the notice parties. This correspondence must be satisfactorily resolved before this application can be considered for completion.

However, I can assure the Deputy that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
