Vol. 500 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Michael Noonan

Question:

368 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the great inconvenience to the public and to members of the legal profession in Limerick caused by the closure of the local Land Registry; if his attention has further been drawn to the delays for clients and increased costs which are being incurred in carrying out searches which previously could be carried out locally; if it is the intention of his Department to re-open the Limerick office; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5281/99]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 278 of 9 February 1999 which sets out the background to the temporary closure of the local Land Registry Office at Limerick Circuit Court Office.

I am informed by the County Registrar that he will be in a position to resume a full service at this office with effect from Monday, 1 March 1999.

Any inconvenience caused to the public by the temporary closure of this office is regretted.
