Vol. 500 No. 7

Written Answers. - Home-School Liaison Scheme.

Richard Bruton

Question:

388 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if a submission has been received from Scoil Cholm Chille regarding the appointment of a home school liasion teacher; the criteria to be used in selecting schools for these appointments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5062/99]

I understand that my Department has recently received an application from the school in question seeking its inclusion in the home-school-community liaison service.

As previously announced, arrangements are currently being made to extend this service to all schools which have disadvantaged status, including the school to which the Deputy refers. This extension of service will come into effect from September next. This has been made possible by additional funding provided in the recent budget.
