Vol. 501 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

171 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received a sheep headage payment. [5818/99]

In order to be considered for payment of headage grants herdowners must submit a valid area aid application for the relevant year. The person named did not submit an area aid application in 1998 and consequently payments cannot issue in respect of his 1998 sheep headage application.

Question:

172 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive the remainder of 1998 headage and premia based on his total forage area of 16.181 hectares. [5819/99]

The person named submitted his 1998 area aid application with a declared forage area of five hectares. Payment in respect of 1998 headage and premia has issued to the person named based on this declared area.

John Perry

Question:

173 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 111 of 3 February 1999, payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in view of the fact that the reason for the difference is due to the incorrect digitising of the area aid maps; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5831/99]

My Department is not satisfied with the explanation provided by the applicant on the discrepancy between the area of land declared on his area aid application and the area of land declared under the REP scheme. My Department will be requesting the applicant to provide a breakdown of the areas of land farmed under both schemes.

No payment can issue until a satisfactory explanation has been received.
