268 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of people diagnosed as having a need for heart surgery in the past 12 months; the number of these people who have received this attention in that period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6237/99]

As the information requested by the Deputy is not routinely collected by my Department in the format requested, I have written to the relevant agencies and requested that they send the appropriate information to me as a matter of urgency. On receipt of same, I will then be in a position to forward it to the Deputy.
