Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Jack Wall

Question:

308 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when the position of lock keeper at a lock (details supplied) in County Kildare will be filled; the number of applications received; if interviews have taken place; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6091/99]

No vacancy exists for a lock keeper at the lock in question. That lock, together with the next lock in the system and a lifting bridge, is served by an existing lock keeper.

Question:

309 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when the positions advertised by her Department in 1998 for maintenance personnel for the canals in Kildare will be filled; if interviews have taken place; the number of applications received; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6092/99]

Thirty-one applicants have applied for the positions in question. It is expected that interviews will be held later this month and appointments made as soon as possible thereafter.
