Vol. 501 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Willie Penrose

Question:

96 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the level of capital and current spending provided by his Department for each of the years 1993 to 1998 inclusive; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6393/99]

The total amount of funding made available by my Department in the period 1993 to 1998 is as follows:

Year

Gross Non Capital Estimate

Capital Estimate

Total Gross Estimate

£000

£000

£000

1993

2,012,200

44,000

2,056,200

1994

2,232,634

65,500

2,298,134

1995

2,348,870

96,000

2,444,870

1996

2,350,451

119,818

2,470,269

1997

2,732,674

131,493

2,864,167

1998

3,101,497

147,250

3,248,747

As stated these figures represent the funding made available by my Department. It is therefore important to note that actual spending of health agencies in any one year would be higher than these figures since an element of agency gross non capital expenditure is supported by income from other sources.
