Vol. 501 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin Bombing.

Enda Kenny

Question:

155 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of continuing investigations into the Dublin bombing of 1974; the progress, if any, made on the approach of the 25th anniversary of this tragedy to bring the perpetrators to justice; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6336/99]

The Dublin bombing of 1974 was, along with the Monaghan bombing on the same day, the subject of an intensive Garda investigation over a protracted period of time during which all relevant leads were pursued. Unfortunately, despite intensive inquiries, the Garda has not obtained sufficient evidence to warrant a prosecution being taken against any persons for these atrocities. The Garda file on the bombings remains open, and if any new lead should emerge which might bring the culprits to justice, it will be rigorously pursued.
