47 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received a report issued in January 1999 from the Environmental Protection Agency in relation to the condition of the tailings pond and waste facility at Gortmore, Nenagh, County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department requested and recently received a report from the Environmental Protection Agency on the mine tailings facility at Gortmore. I have arranged for a copy of the report to be sent to the Deputy.
In accordance with their statutory responsibilities, it is a matter for the Environmental Protection Agency and the local authority, as appropriate, to address the recommendations and actions identified in the report.
