Vol. 501 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

65 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a ten month special beef premium payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6541/99]

As indicated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 250 on 25 February 1999, the person named submitted a ten month application for special beef premium in respect of 27 animals in December 1998. As payments cannot issue before expiry of the regulatory two month retention period, payment was not due before March 1999.

It is expected that the advance payment will issue within the next ten days.

Question:

66 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a headage payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6542/99]

The person named declared his forage area as 2.83 hectares in his 1998 area aid appli cation. Clause 11 of the terms and conditions governing the 1998 cattle headage scheme requires that applicants under the scheme must occupy and farm at least three hectares of utilised agricultural land. Accordingly, as the person named has not sufficient forage area, he is not eligible for grants under the headage schemes.

Question:

67 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment under the fodder scheme will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6543/99]

In order to qualify under the 1998 winter fodder scheme a producer had to be resident and have a herd number in one of the designated district electoral divisions. The DEDs were designated on the basis of an examination by Teagasc of areas most affected by the bad weather.

As the person named did not reside and have a herd number in one of the designated DEDs he was not entitled to payment under the 1998 winter fodder package. My Department is presently finalising arrangements for the distribution of aid under the 1999 winter fodder scheme and the person named will be considered for assistance under the new measure.

Jim Higgins

Question:

68 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a ten month beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [6544/99]

The person concerned applied for ten month special beef premium on tag number KFZR 0002 U on 14 July 1997. The age declared on both the application form and card were inconsistent with the age registered by the applicant on the Bandon database. The person concerned was advised in writing of the discrepancy and since the animal was born in his herd he was obliged to have the appropriate form ER108 completed in his local livestock office and forwarded to Bandon to have the date of birth amended to coincide with his card. No response was received confirming that the date of birth had been amended. However, we have now made arrangements via the local livestock office to have the Bandon database suitably amended and a manual payment in respect of this animal will issue in the next three weeks.

Michael Creed

Question:

69 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has returned all the relevant maps to the area aid unit will receive 1998 sheep headage. [6551/99]

The area aid application for the person concerned was not fully completed. The applicant had sought to include additional land but this could not be facilitated as no maps had been received. The person concerned was requested to forward maps for the land in question. These maps have only recently been received and are in the final stages of being processed. When this has been completed any outstanding payments will then issue.
