Question:

100 Mr. Stanton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the membership of the Motor Insurance Advisory Board; the number of times the board has met since its re-establishment in September 1998; the number and nature of reports and findings the board has issued to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8608/99]

I re-established the Motor Insurance Advisory Board in September 1998 with a view to establishing a mechanism for systematically monitoring developments in motor insurance costs and for providing meaningful analysis and evaluation of the factors influencing changes in motor insurance premium rates and related matters. The expanded membership of the new board, which is broadly representative of the consumer, insurance user, insurance industry, road safety and departmental interests, is as follows:
