Vol. 502 No. 6

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy.

Austin Deasy

Question:

210 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children if two cases will be examined for persons (details supplied) in County Waterford who have been waiting two years and over for speech therapy; if both children will be given immediate attention in view of the affect this is having on their development; and the reason for the lengthy delay. [8889/99]

The provision of speech and language therapy services in any individual case is a matter for the relevant health board. Accordingly, I have referred the details of the cases provided by the Deputy to the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board and have asked him to have the matter examined and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
