Vol. 503 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Seán Power

Question:

384 Mr. Power asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the progress, if any, made to identify an independent supplementary water supply for the south Kildare area. [9726/99]

Approval was given in June 1998 to Kildare County Council to appoint consultants to undertake a water strategy study for the county, including an assessment of alternative sources of supply. It is understood that the study report was received by the local authority very recently and is under consideration by it. The Department has recently approved contract documents for an alternative water supply to the Ballitore area, which will be carried out as part of the Moone-Timolin-Ballitore Hill by-pass road scheme.
