Vol. 503 No. 5

Written Answers. - Allergy Testing.

John Bruton

Question:

61 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will introduce a system of registration of organisations undertaking commercial allergy testing to ensure that there is a sound scientific basis for the advice being offered or necessary disclaimers are made known to users before they part with their money. [8480/99]

There is currently no legislative base for the registration of persons or organisations undertaking commercial allergy testing and I have no plans to introduce one. Persons who feel that they require advice or help in relation to allergies should in the first instance contact their general practitioner who will be able to deal with the problem or to refer them to an appropriate hospital service for further help.
