Written Answers. - Hospital Development Plan.

Question:

105 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the implementation of the Naas Hospital development plan; the proposed schedule of extra facilities; the total expected bed compliment when completed in each discipline; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Eastern Health Board has submitted the Stage 3 planning documentation for the Phase 2 development at Naas general hospital to my Department, and this report is currently being considered in consultation with the board.The Phase 2 scheme includes provision for the following new accommodation:

Main Entrance Concourse and Administration Dept., Accident and Emergency Dept., Out-Patients Dept., Physical Medicine Dept., Phar macy Dept., Chaplaincy Dept., Radiology Dept. (seven rooms including CT Scan), Medical Records/Admissions Suite, Geriatric Day Hospital, Day Services Dept. (25 places), Operating Dept. (three theatres), Intensive Care Unit (four beds), Coronary Care Unit (six beds), Geriatric Assessment/Rehabilitation Ward (31 beds), Medical and Surgical Wards (93 beds).
In addition, mortuary and post mortem facilities will be provided in altered and upgraded existing accommodation.
The bed complement for the Phase 2 development will be 159 beds (including 25 day beds), and the total bed complement for the hospital, including 30 existing psychiatric beds provided under Phase 1, will be 189 beds.
