Vol. 503 No. 6

Written Answers. - Prisoner Transfers.

John Perry

Question:

231 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 292 of 30 March 1999, the case will be reviewed for a person (details supplied) in Castlerea Prison and his transfer approved in view of the circumstances; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10674/99]

There has been no change in circumstances since the Deputy last requested a transfer for this prisoner. As I stated on that occasion, the person referred to was committed to Castlerea Prison on 19 January 1999. He is serving a three year sentence and is not due for release with remission until 20 April 2001. His case was considered at a review meeting on Monday 19 April but it was considered too early in his sentence to transfer him to an open centre. His case will, however, continue to be kept under review.
