31 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the progress, if any, made in the Sheepmeat Forum in addressing the problems besetting the sector; if the forum will be making recommendations for further actions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10925/99]
I set up the sheepmeat forum representative of the different interests in the sector in February 1998 in order to evaluate the future direction of the sheepmeat sector and to assess how the industry can collectively address existing constraints and future challenges. The forum has been meeting on a regular basis and I expect it to submit its report in the near future which will contain recommendations for action to address the issues and exploit opportunities for the development of the sector.
