Vol. 503 No. 7

Written Answers. - Headage and Premia Appeals.

Michael Ferris

Question:

49 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of appeal cases; the number of new appeals lodged each month; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11030/99]

The number of appeal cases currently on hands in the headage and premia appeals is 441. The average number of new appeals lodged with the headage and premia appeals unit each month is 56.

The appeals unit has set itself a target of processing all but the most complicated and intractable of appeals within three months. Two additional full-time staff were assigned to the unit and this, together with overtime worked in the unit, is contributing to reducing the delay in processing appeals.
