Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Consultant Appointments.

Bernard Allen

Question:

197 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of consultants appointed by his Department to Comhairle na nOspidéal in each of the years from 1995 to date for each of the health board areas; and the number appointed to the voluntary hospitals. [11308/99]

The actual appointment of the consultants is a matter for each individual agency. Comhairle na nOispidéal is the statutory body with responsibility to regulate the number and type of consultant appointments in hospitals providing services under the Health Act, 1970. Accordingly, I have asked the chief executive officers of each health board and the chief executive officers of voluntary hospitals to supply the information requested directly to you.
