Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - FÁS Training Programmes.

John Perry

Question:

102 Mr. Perry asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the problems encountered by a company (details supplied) in Sligo in its attempts to provide a unique system of job creation in County Sligo where only 185 jobs were created; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that this unique course has tremendous potential in reducing unemployment; if she will assist the company in resolving its problems; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11706/99]

The company in question is a private limited company which ran a pilot training course on a contract basis for FÁS. FÁS is at present evaluating the outcome of the pilot.

The issue of further support for training courses operated by the company is an operational matter for FÁS. I have asked FÁS to reply directly to you, outlining the current position regarding its interaction with the company.
