Vol. 504 No. 3

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

36 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the number of statutory instruments being prepared within this Department or under the aegis of his Department; the proposed effect of each instrument; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11765/99]

As the Deputy may be aware, the Irish Sports Council Bill to establish a statutory Sport Council is being debated in the Seanad this week, having recently passed all Stages in the Dáil. Section 4 of the Bill requires that I make an order appointing the establishment day of the new council for the purposes of the Act, which I intend to do as soon as possible after enactment. There are no other statutory instruments in preparation within my Department, or under its aegis, at this time.
