Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Health Services.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

219 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the medical back-up and financial support, if any, he will provide for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12751/99]

The determination of eligibility for health services to individuals is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board. I, as Minister for Health and Children, do not have a function in the matter. However, as the determination of eligibility of the person concerned rests with the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board I have asked him to have the matter investigated and to reply directly to the Deputy.

I understand that the Deputy also has concerns in regard to another member of this family and these have been raised with the chief executive officer of the board who has been asked to investigate and to write to the Deputy in this matter.
