Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John Perry

Question:

263 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs when the next post will be available for staff officer on the seniority list in his Department in College Road, Sligo; when this post will be filled; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12538/99]

One in every four appointments to staff officer in individual locations in the Department, including Sligo, falls to be made from the Civil Service Commission interdepartmental panel, set up on the basis of a competitive process.

The other three appointments are made by direct promotion within the Department, based on seniority and suitability and taking account of location preferences. An existing vacancy in Sligo is currently being filled on this basis.
