Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Computer Programmes.

David Stanton

Question:

287 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the state of readiness of her Department with regard to the year 2000 computer issue; if she will report on the position in relation to hardware and software; if a statement of compliance of readiness has been issued; if not, if and when such a statement will be issued; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12597/99]

In the area of fatal business impact projects I expect that my Department will be year 2000 compliant by 31 July 1999. In the case of critical business impact projects the compliant date is 31 August 1999.

For marginal business impact projects such as stand-alone equipment in outlying offices the compliant date will be 30 November 1999 at the latest. It will not be possible to issue a statement of compliancy until all outstanding hardware and software has been checked, upgraded or replaced.
