Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Licensed Premises.

Seán Haughey

Question:

118 Mr. Haughey asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will oblige publicans to display their drinks prices outside their licensed premises; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12936/99]

The regulations which currently govern price dis plays in licensed premises date from 1976 and require publicans to display a range of prices inside their premises. In view of price movements in recent times and the considerable variation in prices currently charged, I formed the view some time ago that a case exists for requiring that prices be displayed outside licensed premises as is the case under the equivalent regulations applying to catering establishments. This proposal is currently being examined and I am consulting with interested parties.
