Data on mortality are routinely published in the annual and quarterly reports on vital statistics compiled by the Central Statistics Office. The most recent figures available refer to the third quarter of 1998 and are set out in the table below. These figures are provisional as they refer to deaths registered during January to September 1998 rather than deaths which actually occurred during that period.
