The national development plan will address the general development needs of the economy for the period 2000-06. It will cover a wide range of expenditure programmes, both current and capital. It will set out expenditure in key investment areas, such as infrastructure and human resources, which will allow Ireland to continue to develop economically and socially.
The national development plan is being prepared at present. I can assure the Deputy that the funding of the investments in the plan is being taken fully into account. The expenditure plans which will be presented in the NDP will show the sources of funding, that is the Exchequer, the EU and private sources.
