Vol. 505 No. 5

Written Answers. - Working Party on Ageing and Older People.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

20 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has to act on the recommendation of the recent report of the National Council on Ageing and Older People which called for a working party within his Department to tackle the problem of abuse of older people; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13973/99]

Officials of my Department met with a deputation from the national council on ageing and older people earlier this month to discuss the composition of a working party which is being established to prepare guidelines and advise on appropriate procedures for dealing with matters raised in the report referred to. Invitations to become members of the working party are about to issue and it is hoped to hold the inaugural meeting of the group in the month of June.
