Vol. 506 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Liam Aylward

Question:

61 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if an early payment will be made under the fodder scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [15579/99]

The person named did not lodge an application for the 1998 suckler cow premium, ewe premium or sheep headage schemes and did not hold a milk quota at 1 April 1998. Therefore he does not qualify for assistance under the general winter fodder scheme.

My Department has no record of receiving an application from the person named, under the special fodder hardship fund scheme.

Question:

62 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the progress, if any, to date on the application under the REP scheme by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [15580/99]

As the application for fourth year payment was not received within the specified timeframe, my Department cannot approve payment for that year. However, the person named can continue in the scheme and qualify in due course for the final payment in respect of the fifth year subject to his meeting all the conditions of the scheme.

Question:

64 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive payment of a 1998 extensification premium. [15582/99]

The person named was paid on 12 suckler cows under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme that is, 12 Lus. He also applied for, and was paid on, one animal under the bull premium scheme. This animal was under two years and was therefore equivalent to 0.6 Lu. He lodged an area aid application for 16.97 hectares. According to the Department's records he had a milk quota of 10,178 gallons which divided by the national average yield of 897 gallons per cow is equivalent to 11.34 Lus. The total of 23.94 Lus divided by 16.97 hectares gave a stocking density of 1.41 Lus/hectare.

On investigation with his milk co-operative it has since been established that this milk quota was sold on 1 April 1997 and should not be counted in the stocking density calculation. Arrangements are being made to pay the 1998 extensification premium to the person named.
