Vol. 506 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Premises.

Enda Kenny

Question:

49 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science the steps, if any, he will take to encourage schools to make premises available for child care at out of hour times. [15524/99]

The use of schools for purposes other than the education of pupils is essentially a matter for the trustees and boards of management of individual schools.

My Department would support any decision by school authorities to make their premises available for a wide range of activities outside of normal school time. This area is being considered as part of the preparations of a full White Paper on early education.
