Vol. 506 No. 5

Written Answers. - European Business Survey.

Ivor Callely

Question:

70 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the business expectations of Ireland's SMEs in view of an annual European business survey (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15762/99]

The report to which the Deputy refers contains the findings of a survey undertaken in spring 1999 of the prospects and issues for European SMEs. In the case of Ireland, it found that the expectations for employment, profitability and turnover growth were, in all cases, well above the EU average. Together with the Small Firms Association of IBEC and ISME, I concur with these findings.
