Vol. 506 No. 5

Written Answers. - Transport Funding.

John Gormley

Question:

106 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the Vantastic project proposed by the Centre for Independent Living has been suspended due to lack of funding by her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15698/99]

It has been brought to my attention that the Vantastic project, which provides a transport service for the physically disabled, has recently been suspended due to financial difficulties. I understand that this project received a national lottery grant through the Department of Health in 1995.

While I do not have any statutory function with regard to funding it, I am very sympathetic to such a service and I will raise the matter with my Government colleagues.
