Written Answers. - Funding of Special Olympics.
My Department has no plans at present to make financial assistance available to Special Olympics Ireland. At local and regional level, it is a matter for the health boards and individual service providers to decide on the level of assistance, if any, which they may wish to make available to support the work of this agency.
As Special Olympics Ireland provides opportunities for participation in sporting events for persons with intellectual disability, the question of the possible provision of financial assistance at national level would, in the first instance, be a matter for my colleague, the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation.
