279 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the application for a special needs assistant at Derryglin national school, Oughterard, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16504/99]

The case put forward by Derryglin national school in support of its request for the appointment of a special needs assistant is being examined by my Department's inspectorate at present. The school will be advised of the outcome of this examination as speedily as possible.
