Vol. 507 No. 4

Written Answers. - Open Country Access.

Joe Higgins

Question:

219 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the representations, if any, he has made to Comhar on open country access in view of the commitment given on 13 May 1998. [17165/99]

As I indicated in my reply to a parliamentary question of 13 May 1998, I have already brought the issue of access for walkers and hill climbers on open country to the attention of the Minister for the Environment and Local Government.

Following my representations, the Minister assured me that he would have the matter raised before Comhar, the relevant forum, when established. Comhar, the national sustainable development partnership was launched by the Minister for the Environment and Local Government at the end of February 1999.
