David Stanton

Question:

29 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of applications received and approved for the new installation aid scheme since its introduction; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16957/99]

Since the introduction of the national installation aid scheme for young farmers in December 1998, 645 applications have been received in the local offices of the farm development service of my Department. Of these, 196 applications have been approved and paid to date involving expenditure of £1.1 million. A further nine applications were deemed ineligible as the applicants failed to meet the qualifying conditions under the scheme.
