Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Public Transport.

John Bruton

Question:

219 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the licences to operate bus services which she has issued in recent times under the Road Transport Act, 1932; and the applications currently under consideration in her Department for the issuance of these licences including the route to be covered, the date of receipt of the application and the status of her investigation of the application. [17341/99]

Details of the licences to operate bus services that have been issued by my Department in the last six months are set out in the following list.

My Department currently has applications on hand which can be broken down as follows: Intercity routes, 5 applications; Dublin routes, 13 applications; rural routes, 31 applications; other urban routes, 21 applications; total, 70 applications.

I believe it would not be in the commercial interests of the applicants to give any further details of applications which are under consideration.
