Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dental Service.

Alan Shatter

Question:

445 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of adults awaiting in-patient hospital dental treatment; the number of persons in each health board area awaiting this treatment for less than one year, between one year to two years and for more than two years. [17517/99]

The in-patient waiting list for dental treatment at the end of June 1999 was 394. As in-patient dental treatment is not a target specialty under the waiting list initiative, a further breakdown of this figure is not available. I am pleased to inform the Deputy that this figure shows a reduction of 152 on the previous quarter. The breakdown by health board of the waiting list is as follows: Eastern Health Board 110; Mid-Western Health Board 121; and South-Eastern Health Board 163.
