614 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has for an extension or a total upgrade of the sewerage system in Gorey, County Wexford, in view of the large increase in population and housing development in the area; the proposals, if any, his Department has received from Wexford County Council; his response in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Dempsey):

I have approved Wexford County Council's proposals for the appointment of consulting engineers to prepare a preliminary report for stage two of the Gorey main drainage scheme. The scheme is included in the 1999 water services investment programme to advance through planning.
