Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Statistics.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

743 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the decision he will make regarding the Garda barracks at Killybegs, County Donegal; if his attention has been drawn to the deplorable condition of the building; the timescale his Department has regarding the refurbishment or replacement of the building; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17393/99]

Various options for the development of facilities at Killybegs Garda station, County Donegal, are under active investigation, including the provision of a new Garda station on the existing site or on a greenfield site. Progress in relation to these options is dependent upon, among other matters, the likelihood of acquiring a greenfield site, overall priorities within the Garda building programme, the availability of financial resources and the most economically advantageous use of same for the provision of Garda services at Killybegs.
