Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Finucane

Question:

956 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education and Science when Gaelscoil Uí Dhoghair, Caislean Nua, Contae Luimneach, which received priority status in 1995 will be constructed; if revised water and sewage documents will be submitted as a matter of priority to Limerick County Council to ensure planning permission for the new school; if he will reimburse the members of the committee for the site costs in purchasing the 2.5 acres; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18397/99]

My Department is fully committed to the provision of a new school for Gaelscoil Uí Dhoghair and discussions with the board of management in the matter have been ongoing. Local developers have confirmed their agreement to allow water and sewerage connection to their facilities and this offer is currently being considered. My Department will be in contact with the solicitors acting on behalf of the committee shortly to determine the site acquisition costs. When this process has been completed, the matter of planning permission will be addressed in the first instance. It is too early at this point to say when construction will commence.
