Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Trade Centre.

Deirdre Clune

Question:

145 Ms Clune asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the steps, if any, taken by the Government towards the development of a national trade centre; the consideration, if any, given to the proposal submitted for a centre in Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17414/99]

The Government has taken no steps towards the development of a national trade centre. I am aware of proposals for a national trade centre in Cork and for a world trade centre in Dublin which are being promoted by separate private sector interests.

The commercial development of facilities which will augment and reinforce the facilities already available to Irish exporters is to be welcomed and I wish the promoters every success.
