Vol. 508 No. 2

Written Answers. - Drainage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

88 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo can expect the fisheries board or the Office of Public Works to take action to resolve the problems of very severe flooding from the River Belcare of his home and lands every time there is heavy rain; and the solutions proposed. [18571/99]

The area referred to does not form part of any arterial drainage scheme for which the Office of Public Works has a maintenance responsibility.

My office is fully committed at present to schemes on the current list of areas nominated for priority flood relief under the Arterial Drainage (Amendment) Act, 1995 which will absorb all its available resources for the foreseeable future.
