352 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science his policy with regard to making moneys available to re-equip science laboratories in secondary schools; the extra moneys, if any, he has made available in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18614/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin):

The Deputy will be aware that earlier this year, I accounted a major initiative to enhance the uptake of science subjects. Central to this initiative is the provision of funding for modernising school science laboratories. In total, this initiative will cost £15 million.
