Vol. 508 No. 3

Written Answers - Local Authority Housing.

Question:

72 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his views, if any, concerning the need to change the rules which apply to the valuation of council and corporation homes sold under the tenant purchase scheme, from the current market value price to the construction value plus inflation price; if this valuation change is being considered by his Department; the beneficial outcome this policy would give to local authority tenants who wish to purchase their own homes; the estimated cost of this proposal to the Exchequer; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18664/99]

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

118 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has to bring forward a millennium package for local authority tenants who wish to purchase their homes; if so, when it will be introduced; if he will give details of its main features; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18708/99]

Seán Ryan

Question:

247 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will review the tenant purchase scheme current market value of housing which is making it extremely difficult for local authority tenants to avail of this scheme with a view to providing for a fixed price rather than market value on the basis that the difference would be repaid to the relevant local authority in the event of the house being resold in the future and in view of the fact that it would facilitate greater participation in the scheme. [19190/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 72, 118 and 247 together.

I have no proposals to amend the terms of the tenant purchase scheme currently in operation.
