Vol. 508 No. 3

Written Answers - Infrastructural Investment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

119 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the degree to which he expects the capital programme in his Department will meet infrastructural needs for the foreseeable future; if public water supply, road enhancement and improvements, and the provision of sewerage facilities now proposed or planned are sufficient to meet current and future needs in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18760/99]

As the Deputy will be aware, the national development plan for the 2000-06 period is in the final stages of preparation. The plan is being drawn up following an intensive analysis of needs, and taking account of widespread and extensive consultation with interested parties. Outstanding infrastructural investment requirements will be accorded top priority in the plan, with a particular emphasis on the provision of roads and water and sewerage facilities.
