Vol. 508 No. 4

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Seán Power

Question:

96 Mr. Power asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the frustration which exists among assistant supervisors on community employment schemes regarding their future; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [19205/99]

I am aware of the concerns of supervisors and assistant supervisors regarding their position following the restructuring of the community employment programme. This issue was raised at my meeting with ICTU on the 25 September 1999 for the purpose of clarifying the Governments decision on the restructuring programme. Officials from my Department subsequently have met with IMPACT, the union representing the majority of supervisors, in order to progress the matter. Consideration of this matter is ongoing at present.
