Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

240 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of occupational therapists and speech therapists appointed to schools in County Galway in 1999. [19451/99]

The appointment of occupational therapists and speech therapists to schools in County Galway is the responsibility of the Western Health Board in the first instance. I have been informed by the board that there is one new post allocated to speech and language therapy services for school-going children in County Galway this year and no new occupational therapy posts. The new speech and language therapist post is with the Brothers of Charity Services, who provide services to children with intellectual disabilities in the Galway area.
